Sales soften, yet Apple’s customer satisfaction still high

In yesterday’s Mac refurb round up, I mentioned that Mac sales softened in January, which is perhaps to be expected given the nasty state of the economy. Well, earlier today, the other shoe dropped and it’s actually good news.

Quoting ChangeWave data, Cult of Mac reports that Macintosh customer satisfaction numbers are still high, much higher than PC makers. As you can see from the table below, the closest Windows box maker, Asus, couldn’t even manage a 70 percent rating, falling short of the bar set by Apple by no less than 14 percent.

The same survey notes that 54 percent of Mac OS X ‘Leopard’ users are very satisfied, versus 40 percent for Windows XP Professional users with just 5 percent of Vista users claiming the same. I suspect that much of that measly five points could be reckoned with the margin error.

Last, ChangeWave also noted that Apple lead those intending to buy a notebook (30%), while 33 percent of consumers surveyed indicated Dell tops their choice for desktops.
