Big changes coming in Snow Leopard user interface?
Back when Snow Leopard, the next iteration of Apple’s OS X franchise, was just a kitten (ie WWDC 2008), the mothership’s marketing wonks and engineers alike said the changes and improvements would be overwhelmingly concentrated under the hood (ie culling PPC code, OpenCL, etc), with little to no changes made to the operating system’s look.
Well, either the world + dog misinterpreted Apple’s stated intentions those many months or they’ve changed their minds. That said, AppleInsider reports that big changes will be made to OS X’s look and feel with the proof to come in the next developer seed.

Interestingly, hints of the “new” UI look can be found in iTunes 8.1, as well as (surprise!) the iPhone’s dark-hued style. Also, call me old, but this twist on the Mac UI coming in Snow Leopard is very reminiscent of some of the better skins available back when NeXT Apple BSD OS X started shipping back in the day.
