Adium to gain Twitter functionality

Hardly a day goes by without someone claiming a new revolution in the Twittersphere. Well, developer Zac West (a good name for a Starship caption, eh?) and company might just be onto something with the release of Adium 1.33, which includes Twitter support with more functionality coming in future releases.

“For well over a year now, Twitter has been an often-requested addition to our repertoire of services. As a user of the service I absolutely understand. The current base of Twitter clients often leave something to be desired, behave in a weird way, or just add an additional application you need to keep open”—Mssr West

Zac hopes to add Twitpic functionality (ie picture URL trimmer) to v1.4 and it doesn’t take a great deal of imagination to think of other things he might add. That said, the dope on what he’s done and hopes are for Adium + Twitter can be found in this blog posting.
