Microsoft Office coming to the iPhone [someday]

The rumors they come and sometimes they come back. That’s the case here as a Microsoft executive has said the company will eventually offer a version of Office for the iPhone.

eWeek is reporting comments made by Stephen Elop, president, Business Division, Micrsoft, made at Web 2.0 Expo earlier this week.

Tim O’Reilly, CEO of O’Reilly Media, the organizer of the Web 2.0 conference, asked Elop if this meant that iPhone users would eventually get access to a mobile edition of Microsoft Office. “Not yet—keep watching,” Elop said.

Of course, iPhone users can view productivity suite documents, though editing is not yet available.
