ABC interviews New Yorker, Brushes
cover artist Jorge Colombo

Brushes ($3.99, iTunes), the iPhone application used to create the June 2009 New Yorker cover, has caused quite a stir among the digerati and artists alike. Here’s an interview with Jorge Colombo, the artist who created the cover for the June edition of the New Yorker magazine.

Since its release last year, Brushes has been downloaded more than 40,000 times and I can’t wait to see the art people create on Apple’s long-rumored iPod touch on steroids

  1. Really nice art work can be done by talented individuals. Next thing I’m gonna hear is that somebody was doing this sort of art work on their Palm Treo a few years back. I’m gonna have to call BS. That whole finger painting stuff is really good therapy for anyone.

It will be even nicer when Apple comes out with it’s iTablet. It will be a good deal larger and undoubtedly have even more options if that’s useful to artists. It’s nice that you can take a quick photo and then layer the paint over it.

This New Yorker cover is really some great free ad copy pushing the iPhone or iPod Touch and Apple’s App Store.
