Opera 10 beta benchmarks show Turbo mode

Apple Online StoreYesterday, I took a quick, cursory look at Opera 10 beta, which is faster both on fast connections and slow. The latter feature, called Opera Turbo, uses compression to speed up slow bandwidth situations.

According to Nate Lanxon with News.com, Turbo is the most important reason you should download a copy of Opera and keep it handy. Thereupon, he’s spun up some rather convincing number to make his case.

Thereupon, if you regularly find yourself cursing the throughput at public wi-fi hotspots, Opera 10 might just be for you. Otherwise, as noted by Lanxon, Firefox is more customizable, and anything WebKit—Chrome, Stainless and Safari—is going to be faster on anything but the worst connections.
