Video: iPhone 3G S full monty tear down
Well, that didn’t take long. Of course the lad who posted this video travelled into the future (ie flew to England) in order to be among the very first get his sweaty mitts on the iPhone 3G S, tear it apart and then upload the glorious details for the rest of us to enjoy (Kleenex tissues optional).

That said, Wired has posted an analysis of the info gleanable from this and other iPhone 3G S tear downs. They say, interestingly, that the Samsung S5PC100 processor inside Apple’s latest handheld masterpiece is indeed clocked at 600MHz, though this chip’s native speed is actually 667MHz and that it can run as fast as 833MHz.
Unless I’m mistaken, that sounds like an open invitation to iPhone hackers to find a way to boost the speed of the iPhone 3G S’s underclocked processor.
Thereupon, I assume that the iPod touch, which is marketed as a gaming platform, will have those “extra” megahertz activated, providing a palpable if false sense of performance superiority between it and the iPhone.
