OS X 10.5.8 9L30 ships with no issues, release soon?
Perhaps the final chapter of OS development for PPC Macs is all but ready to be released as recent reports indicate that only a single problem was address in this build with, you guessed it, no known issues.
MacRumors and AppleInsider are both reporting the arrival of OS X 10.5.8 [9L30]. These writes state that a very, very limited number of issues mentioned in the change notes:
• A fix for a prior issue where the system occasionally did not not wake from sleep correctly with certain external monitors
• No outstanding problems mentioned going forward
Likewise recent developer seeds of the latest OS X 10.6 builds (aka Snow Leopard) list no known in the change notes. And, tellingly enough like OS 10.5.8 seeds, Apple has asked developers to change their focus to different parts of the OS to seek out problems before they manifest.
Previously, Apple had said Snow Leopard wouldn’t be publicly released until September. Nevertheless, given how well along OS X 10.6 apparently is, perhaps we’ll be treated to an earlier release…
