Apple slashes new, refurbished iPod prices

Hours before Steve Jobs someone takes the stage in San Francisco to announce new iPods, the mothership has taken an ax to the price of its top shelf media player/handheld computer. What does this say about what’s coming this afternoon?

New not used iPod touch prices — 8GB $189 (229), 16GB $249 (299) and 32GB $279 (399) have been slashed across the board ahead of today’s Apple event. Further, the company has also reduced refurbished iPod touch prices commensurately, as well — 8GB $149 (179), 16GB $199 (259) and 32GB $249 (349).

Those are rather tempting prices following $40, $60 and $100, respectively, cuts on each model for both not used and refurbished product.

Also, Apple has also cut iPod nano and iPod classic prices, though not quite as dramatically:
— iPod nano 8GB, $129 (149); refurbished 8GB nano
— iPod nano 16GB, $149 (199); refurbished 16GB nano
— iPod classic 120GB. $229 (249); refurbished 120GB classic

Today might be just the day to pick a new or refurbished iPod…
