If you had a television and toys in your house growing up, it’s pretty much a sure bet that you watched and played with these cute critters — everybody knows and all but the most curmudgeonly loves them. With the iPod and its iconographic marketing also a firmly entrenched cultural touchstone, this video from the Children’s Television Workshop seems a natural melding of two positive, kid and family friendly teaching tools of our times.

In 50 years, younger people might wonder what it’s all about, but it’s hard to imagine a person alive today that doesn’t immediately recognize these silhouetted Sesame Street characters — Big Bird, Elmo, Snuffalufagus — and the telltale white earbuds they’re wearing.
