Video: ‘There’s an app for that’ meme dragged into the gutter
How much is too much? Apple’s “there’s an app for that” iPhone TV advertising spots have been transformed from the company’s top weapon for spreading the App Store gospel to becoming the hackneyed vehicle de jure for anyone with a cause or axe to grind, both commercial and political. A poorly executed and hate filled example of the latter, which mixes some accurate finger wagging with blatant bigotry and unwarranted character assassination of Republican members of Congress, can be seen below.
To date, Verizon’s there’s a map for that is the only worthy satire and effective use of Apple’s iPhone App Store meme. The rest, especially the bitter, canard laced garbage from Waking Up Now shown above, just detracts from the whole body of work, which is quite ironic given how liberal Apple is known to be.
In much the same way that Rush Limbaugh has turned “conservative” into a foul-mouthed curse, in Waking Up Now’s greasy, unwashed fingers “liberal” becomes a rancid pejorative..
What’s your take?

What part is untrue? Specifically.
“The ads’ claims are largely supported, though sometimes slightly exaggerated. A Republican congressman didn’t explicitly say killing gays wasn’t assault, but he did exclude certain elements of violence from his definition.”
Start here and work backward from “slightly exaggerated.”

The video doesn’t claim Gohmert explicitly said it. The video says he suggested it. And that’s accurate. When the Republican claimed his 242 number was true, he was suggesting that his underlying assumptions were true — one of which was that murdered gays don’t have to be counted.
The video doesn’t explicitly say Representative Bachmann is an idiot either, but it certainly “suggests” it.
Squirm around the technicalities all you want, but this is exactly same innuendo and smear garbage people came to hate the Republicans for. How exactly will this video enhance dialog and understanding? It doesn’t…
