Video: Verizon rips AT&T 3G with ‘There’s a map for that’ ad

Just how crumby is AT&T 3G coverage compared to Verizon’s? Hey, “there’s an map for that,” declares a cheeky new Verizon television ad campaign that’s so spot on you can hear iPhone users across the nation wincing in pain.

“New Verizon commercial going after AT&T and Apple, ‘There’s a map for that.’ For total irony, I recorded this commercial using an iPhone 3GS,” says YouTube user RockBandit.

“With more than 5 times more 3G wireless coverage than the nation’s number two wireless company there are lots of reasons to switch to Verizon Wireless,” snarks the number one carrier’s ad.

Hmm, if Verizon really wants to rub salt in the wound that is AT&T service and reliability, they should put the same two guys trying to make calls in New York and/or San Francisco.

The announcer could say something bitingly cruel, such as, “Verizon Wireless, with 90 percent fewer dropped calls than the number two wireless carrier.”

Although I could be wrong, I’m thinking this is the first time Verizon has gone after AT&T vis-a-vis the iPhone and 3G coverage, which probably means Ma Bell is hurting them. A pity that AT&T doesn’t have the network to really deliver a body blow to Verizon (or real service to its customers)…
