Customizing how your Mac looks with icons and is super easy—here’s how to get it done in just a few easy steps.

Whether you Google for Mac icons or use on the links below, you need to download some icons that you’d like use on your Mac. Unzip the file (double-click) and open the folder so that the icons are visible. If the icons are stored in a .dmg file, open and mount it on the desktop with the disk image opened so you can view the icons.

Now, to get the icons you’ve just downloaded onto the folders you’d like to customize:

1. In the Finder, highlight the folder or disk you want to customize and press ⌘ + I (command + the letter I or select “Get Info” from the File drop down menu)
2. Arrange the Get Info and folder of icon windows so they’re next to each other as show above
3. Click and drag an icon from the folder of icons onto the folder/disk icon in the Get Info window
4. That’s it.

Alternately, you can select and copy an icon (⌘ + C), then select the folder/disk icon in the Get Info window and then paste the new icon (⌘ + V) into position.
