What’s the future of magazine digital publishing look like? Here’s a taste of one leading edge company’s vision for delivering rich interactive media (RIM) enhanced digital magazines on the iPad and other tablet devices.
While most interactive content is still mired in the last century, Sports Illustrated is boldly going where others, Wired and Adobe specifically, feared to tread. HTML5 is rapidly emerging as the de facto language for developing and delivering RIM content. Best of all, it will run on just about any device and doesn’t require a plugin, obviating a lot of worries about security, resource consumption (a.k.a. battery) and performance.
I wonder what Sports Illustrated will do to make the Swimsuit Issue “pop”? It’s just gotta be real…
What’s your take?
