Flash Player 10.1 goes GM, Air 2.0.2 released

Flash Player 10.1 is a big deal, but mostly for mobile platforms and it’s not entirely clear that’s gonna work out well. The one big come on for desktop users is H.264 hardware acceleration, but that isn’t available for Mac users in this Golden Master release. The rest of us, assuming you’ve got the right hardware, have been ghettoized with a separate H.264 accelerated build called “Gala.”

According to Macworld UK, patches for Adobe Acrobat and Reader, which are vulnerable to the most exploits, won’t be patched until June 29.

Lastly, Adobe has also released Flash Player 10.1 beta 2 for Android Froyo. The company previously announced final Mobile Flash 10.1 code would ship on June 17…
