Google Earth 5.2.1.1329 offers better browser integration
I can see the roof of my house from space! Yeah, that’s so 2005, but I still get a kick out of it and Google’s latest update offers tighter Chrome integration, as well as some even geekier geographic features. Still, searchzilla’s left hand doesn’t know what its right is doing vis-a-vis versions of the browser on offer — read on.
Google has released Google Earth 5.2.1.1329 (feature list), which is a maintenance release in name yet it brings some interesting updates to the table, including some improved geographic functionality.
What’s new in this release:
• Improved embedded browser: Better integration of embedded browser with Google Earth Application• Track and Multitrack: A track allows you to create one visible object in Google Earth that moves over time between multiple positions
• Elevation Profiles: You can see elevation profile of a line-string or track in Google Earth. It plots the elevation profile, speed, and associated extended data (for example, heart rate) in a KML file
• Added file import types: NMEA (.log and .nmea), Garmin GDB, Garmin Training Center, and Ozi Explorer files
Get your copy of Google Earth here (59.8MB). This link delivers the Google Earth Bundle, which includes Chrome (5.0.342.9).
That said, the version of Chrome I already had (5.0.375.70) is newer than what Google’s bundling (5.0.342.9) with Earth — go figure and download appropriately.
