Transmission 2.0 out of beta

All praise to the gods of peer-to-peer, Tranmissions 2.0 (release notes) is out of beta and final code has been loosed upon the intertubes. My absolutely favoritist BitTorrent client — I’m soaking in it — now offers local peer discovery, the ability to optimize download requests, smarter heuristics and better handling of 404 tracker errors, as well as these lovely Mac-specific updates:

• Compact View replaces Minimal View, taking up considerably less space
• Show an Add Transfer window when adding magnet links
• “Resume All” now ignores finished transfers
• Allow trackers to be pasted into the Create Window
• European Portuguese localization

Sadly, the Traditional Chinese localization has been removed because no one stepped forward to do the work. I’d volunteer (Je suis un crayon!) but my Chinese is almost as bad as my French.

Nevertheless, for everyone else, get your very own copy of Transmission 2.0 here (4.2MB).

You’ve never heard of Utorrent? It seems to be everyone else’s favorite.
