CloudCanvas: An online HTML5 image editor [brilliant]
Looking for an online image editor that isn’t based on Flash or other plugin? CloudCanvas, an app and eponymous startup company incubating at the Founder Institute, could be the answer as it’s based on the HTML5 Canvas spec and, at least in the video demos, it’s really fast and has some really interesting features, like Google Docs, Open Clip Art Library, Google Images and Deviant Art integration.
CloudCanvas allows you to work with vector and bitmap images (i.e. Illustrator meets Photoshop), as well as import JPG, GIF and PNG files. Currently, you can only save in the PNG and SVG formats.
Interestingly, TechCrunch reports that CloudCanvass offers an iPad-optimized version. However, because the CloudCanvas servers are getting hammered right now, I haven’t yet registered (where’s my activation key!) let alone taken it for a spin.
Still, I’m very impressed by what I’ve seen so far…
What’s your take?
