The answer to so many questions — Do I have mail? What song is that? Software updates available? Is my upload finished? — can be answered just installing this by notification system, which has tie ins with scores of third-party apps. If you gotta know, then you gotta get Growl on your Mac.

Growl 1.2.1 (6.1MB) is a maintenance update pure and simple:

• New disk image background
• Fixed Spanish translation error in disk image background
• Replaced GrowlMail in Extras folder with a link to the GrowlMail web page, since it’s now separate from Growl releases
• Updated copyright ranges to include 2010

And, that Growl Extras folder that’s included with the download includes notification automation add-ons for iTunes, Safari and more. Further, you can find Growl notification built into other popular apps like PandoraJam, CyberDuck, Adium, Handbrake, Musicality, NetNewsWire, Transmit, Transmission, RipIt, Toast and a whole lot more.
