RipIt adds iPad as target

Yup, I’m a pretty big fan of Little App Factory’s RipIt (review), a small, lightweight and to date undefeated (12 commercial disks and counting) DVD ripper for the Mac. Thereupon, as an iPad owner, I was quite pleased to read about the arrival RipIt 1.5.2, a maintenance and feature refresh of this popular utility that brings direct DVD to iPad compatible ripping.

Here’s the new stuff:• Added compress target for iPad.
• Added compress preference to delete after importing to iTunes.
• Added preference to auto start ripping OR compressing.
• Added Dutch to list of preferred languages for compress.
• Fixed bug in compress when using case sensitive file system.
• Changed compress default setting to keep dvdmedia/video_ts.
• Changed compress logic to include title index in filenames only when compressing more than one title.

As a stand-alone app, RipIt delivers an industry-standard VIDEO_TS folder. However, in conjunction with Handbrake you can rip and compress on the fly to popular formats like iPod classic, iPhone/iPod touch, iPod nano, Apple TV and, with the release of this version, iPad.

Get a demo of RipIt ($19.99) here (2.4MB), which allows you to rip 10 DVDs free of charge.
