It’s a holiday weekend and there’s nothing better to do than destroy your favorite electronics! Well, the better way is to watch someone else do it as you get to keep your stuff and stay inside where it’s cool. For example, check out these guys as they strap an iPhone 4 to a few helium balloons and send it off for a flight to the ionosphere and back. Actually, it doesn’t go that far and they did keep it tethered the whole time, though that radio tower certainly looks menacing, doesn’t it?

It’s not hard to imagine the above video turning into the winning entry for this year’s Darwin Awards. I wonder how many watts that transmitter’s putting out…
