Firefox 4 beta 3 adds languages, boosts JavaScript

Did you know that 96 percent of Firefox 4 beta testers are male? The low hanging fruit is that this factoid says quite a bit about the relative risk profiles of men and women. I think it says a lot more about the geeky “Y” chromosome heavy demographic of the Firefox user base.

The marquee features in this not quite ready for primetime whole number update are plugin sandboxing and tabs on top. Thereupon, Mozilla has pushed out Firefox 4 beta 3 (release notes), which brings the release of final code one step closer with some refinements and tweaks:

• Firefox 4 Beta 3 is available in 34 languages.
• Web authors can now get touch events from Firefox users on Windows 7 machines.
• A new way of representing values in JavaScript that allows Firefox to execute heavy, numeric code (used for things like graphics and animations) more efficiently.

Well, FF 4 b3 has screwed up some of my jquery scripts, including Kwicks, pretty good. Not too happy with the ‘efficiency’ there.
