For some folks, the interface changes Apple’s made in iTunes 10 are just too much to bear. Cupertino’s design gods must be crazy and no further proof is needed than the dichromatic icons that skulk lifelessly inside the new version. Here’s how to breath some color back into iTunes 10′s icons
First and always when tinkering under the hood, back up your settings and library — think Time Machine — before making the attempt.
Next, we should pause for a moment of silence in honor of Drien, who sacrificed his blog on the alter of bandwidth caps to bring us this tutorial.
1. Quit iTunes
2. Download the itunes10colors file
3. In the finder, right click on iTunes and choose “Show Package Contents”
4. Move the current iTunes.rsrc file to a safe place
5. Copy the new iTunes.rsrc to the Contents folder
Now, fire up iTunes and enjoy the renewed color.

This is GREAT! Thank you. And thanks to Drien, too. I hope he’s back in business soon.

Thank you, very happy to have the colors back! Lost them when I got new imac computer and new iTunes. Why take the beautiful colors away and replace with drab gray… I will not update iTunes again until Apple figures this out! Would be nice if they gave options to choose but I can’t imagine anyone would want the gray.
i have a pc and i cant find ‘show package contents’. i downloaded the file but i cant do anything.
@sonia — This how to is Mac only.
