iTunes 99-cent TV rentals now on your Mac, PC

2 September 2010 1,430 views No Comment

Steve Jobs spoke yesterday at length about 99-cent TV show rentals on iPhones and iPod touches running iOS 4.1. Given that the new iteration of the mobile operating system doesn’t ship until next week, everyone assumed that’s when the rentals would start, as well. For Mac and PC owners, however, the wait is already over.

Apple has pulled the trigger on low-cost TV show rentals, but only for Mac and PC owners running iTunes 10. Of course, for the time being, the selection is limited to programs from ABC and FOX, and not a lot that programming has been turned on.

For example, whereas Modern Family (iTunes) episodes are, as of this writing, available only for purchase, individual Lost episodes can be rented for 99-cents each.

Likewise, the ever lovable Dr. House is purchase only and American Dad can be had for 99-cents.

Are you in a renting mood?
