What’s inside the new Apple TV

What would we do without them? The guys at iFixIt wasted no time — I imagine they had someone stationed at the door waiting for Fedex — in taking apart the new Apple TV. Theruepon, in addition to a list of the usual idevice components, they also discovered (see image above) a bracket that looks a lot like ’twas meant for a 30-pin USB connector.
What else is inside?
• Apple A4 processor w/ 256MB RAM
— Same as the iPad• 8GB Samsung Flash memory on-board
— No word yet on how much is allocated for iOS 4.1 or cached content• Broadcom BCM4329XKUBG 802.11n Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/FM chip
— Panasonic Wi-Fi board/assembly
— Exactly the same as used in the iPad• 5.95W (3.4V @ 1.75A) power supply
— “Is this the most eco-friendly set-top box ever?” — iFixIt
Given that the it’s already been jailbroken, it won’t be long before we know exactly what the A4 + iOS 4.1 powered Apple TV can do vis-a-vis apps, games and more. Thereupon, I’m waiting to find out whether I’ll be buying the Apple TV or a Roku box.
Seriously, it’s all about the apps…
What’s your take?
