Firefox 4 release delayed until ‘early 2011′
Mozilla has a long history of pushing back product release dates and, on the whole, that should be considered a good thing. Thereupon, the company has announced that Firefox 4 will not be shipping by end of November as originally planned with release of final code penciled in for the beginning of next year — c’est la vie.
“Completing this work [on Firefox 4] is taking longer than initial estimates indicated as we track down regressions and sources of instability,” says Mike Beltzner, director, Firefox. “We will not ship software before it is ready.”
According to ComputerWorld, the decision comes after several weeks of stalled progress on Firefox 4 Beta 7, which was originally slated to ship in mid-September but slipped as Mozilla ran into several stubborn bugs.
Why not December? Well, according to Mozilla December just isn’t a good month…
