Talk is what the fanbois do. Geeks on the other hand let the numbers do their talking and can’t effectively present them without fresh tools. On the fairer platform, the premier benchmarking tool is Geekbench and there’s a updated version available with support for Apple’s new kit.

PrimateLabs has announced the availability of Geekbench 2.1.7. Although a simple maintenance update, it adds support for new Mac models and quashes a multicore issue specific to Apple’s newest pro towers:

• Fixed a problem that prevented Geekbench from scaling beyond 32 cores
• Added support for Mac mini (Early 2010)
• Added support for Mid 2010 iMac (21.5-inch and 27-inch
• Added support for Mac Pro (Mid 2010)
