iLuv iMM747: iPad hi-fi speaker dock

The iHome iA100 iPad Dock + Clock Radio generated a lot of buzz last month, but it’s not the only act in town as iLuv introduces a lower cost competitor with a reduced feature set.

The iLuv iMM747 Hi-Fidelity Speaker Dock for iPad isn’t a clock radio and doesn’t come with its own iPad app, like the iHome. A more focussed product, the iMM747 features a USB docking cable for Mac or PC, high-fidelity audio and “ultra-fast” idevice charging.

Although the iMM747 doesn’t offer the alarm and clock radio features of the iHome iA100, these functions are available via apps, many of free. Also, as noted, the iMM747′s speakers feature separate drivers for high, mid and bass.

The iLuv iMM747 is expected to ship in “early October” for $150.
