Nine years on, the iPod phenomenon

White earbuds everywhere. Anymore it’s just assumed, but it was new and insanely great on October 23, 2001 as Steve Jobs introduced the iPod. When this documentary was released back in 2007, Apple had “only” sold 70,000,000 iPods, a total that has now more than trebled to 250,000,000 today.

That said, with the huge subsequent succeses of the iPhone and iPad, it’s easy to forget what a huge business and cultural phenomenon the iPod is, transforming Apple, music and, without a hint of irony or hubris, the world.

The video quality is poor, but don’t let that dissuade you from watching all five parts of this Discovery documentary.
