HTML5 Audio Safari extension: It’s cool

The movement to kill Flash on the Mac is gaining pace and that’s decidedly a good thing™. Further, it’s all coming together as a result of one person inspiring the next and, advertising aside, we’ve now got all the tools we need make the dream real. Come inside for the details.

One inspired creation (ClickToFlash) and lead to another (YouTube5), and the latest just about completes the circle.

After listening to John talk about going Flash-free and then reading the secret to his success, I thought I would give it a try. First thing I did after disabling the plugin was open up Fever to see how it would impact my daily browsing experience. Almost immediately I hit a snag.

Well, that’s where necessity mothered invention and the result is the HTML5 Audio Safari extension. Yup, it’s cool and, if you’re tired Flash sucking life out of Safari and your Mac, you need this extension…

What’s your take?

Flash is partly responsible for global climate change due to the extra energy that is required to support it. Think of the energy that 250 million PC’s require to operate and then figure that 20% of that energy is the Flash tax. Adobe is destroying the planet!! :-)
