The Apple camera connection kit costs more and does less. This sounds like a recipe for an intervention by the company’s notoriously active and humorless legal department, which killed the über realistic Steve Jobs doll action figure and has generally taken a dim view of products that use Apple’s proprietary 30-pin USB connector.
That said, if you’re feeling lucky, then grab your plastic and pre-order 3-in-1 iPad Camera Connection Kit ($25), which offers a standard USB port, as well as SD and micro SD card slots.
Seriously, this product is just too cool to ever ship…
What’s your take?

I want one.
me, too.
1. Apple has NEVER “taken a dim view” of companies using the 30-pin dock connector. There have long been hundreds of such products of every description. In fact, iOS officially supports custom hardware via 3rd-party apps.
2. Something costing less and doing more has NEVER been “a recipe for an intervention” by Apple’s legal department. That’s never been a legal issue, and it would be absurd to try to make it one. If anything, they’d complain about the shape of it being a clone of Appel styling, and I highly doubt they’d even bother with that.
3. I remember the good old days when legal departments were places of humor. Legal matters should be joyous and comedic—and I too wish companies would remember that.
4. It’s cool. But not all that cool. It’s neat and practical and perfect for some uses, but it only serves one device at a time, and the “cool” design comes from Apple. Whereas Apple’s kit is a pair. So I split a friend’s connection kit, and now we can both use our cameras, at the same time, for cheaper than this device—and less bulk! If you have no friends, save $5 and get this… if it ships and is reliable.
5. Pre-order from a random unknown company? I’m not that brave with my money. Wait for reviews.
