Whether you just got a new Mac for Christmas or you’re toiling away on the old one, it’s time to install the latest version of the best free antivirus app for the Mac. Nothing too exciting in this release, but it’s always best to keep your Mac up-to-date and Springtime fresh.

ClamXav 2.0.9 has arrived just in-time for the holiday. A plain jane maintenance release, here’s what’s new:

• Scanning engine updated to ClamAV 0.96.5
— bugfixes and minor feature enhancements, such as improved handling of detection statistics, better file logging and support for custom database URLs in freshclam

• Improved stability during scan

• Fixed issue where ClamXav Sentry was incorrectly reporting infected files if a certain string was in the filename

ClamXav 2.0.9 is Universal — it’s PPC and Intel Mac ready — and can be downloaded here (12.8MB). Also available in Danish, French, German, Japanese, Korean and Spanish.
