Get MobileMe for $42, free shipping

I’ve been debating, going back and forth with myself on whether or not to renew my MobileMe subscription. Yes, every Mac upgrade, system install, etc. I’ve done since 2002 has gone smoothly because all of my meaningful — calendars, address, prefs, bookmarks, settings, passwords, etc — stuff has been in the cloud. Still, at $99 per year or $69 with a new Mac direct from Apple, it’s not cheap.

But MobileMe just works and has saved my bacon many times. Maybe I’m just thinking about my lack of money and relative abundance of time?

Whatever the case, with my account due the first week of January, I needed to make a decision. Finding MobileMe Individual [OLD VERSION] (Amazon, $42, free shipping) made it easy to pull the trigger.

Renewing a MobileMe account:

1) Go to me.com and log in
2) Go to Account Settings, re-enter your password
3) Select “Billing Info” (left)
4) Click on “Apply Activation Key” at the bottom left
5) Click radio button “Apply to an existing account” and enter the 16-letter activation code that comes in the box
6) Confirm

Whether you’re buying a new account or renewing an existing one, this will work and it’s $57 cheaper than the suggested retail price — a real no brainer. And, if you’re looking for the family pack, get the MobileMe Family Pack [OLD VERSION] for $79 with free shipping.

All of those months of angst about starting over with new addresses, etc and along comes a bargain to put me at ease…

Gotta super cheapo Mac deal? Drop us a note with a link in the comments below…
