iTunes Rewind 2010: The best in music, movies, apps, audiobooks and more
Another year is all but over and Apple’s published their annual iTunes best of lists. The song and album lists don’t contain much surprising, though it’s interesting that the top five iPhone apps are all games and three of the top five iPad apps are Apple productivity apps — Pages, Keynote and Numbers.
iTunes 2010 Rewind is up and ready for your digital delectation. Train, whose lead singer Patrick Monahan is an Erie, PA (home of the FairerPlatform) native, tops pretty much everyone’s year-end lists, hasn’t gotten much love from Grammy with just a single nomination.
Top five singles
1. Hey Soul Sister, Train
2. California Gurls, Katy Perry
3. Love the Way You Lie, Eminem
4. Airplanes, B.oB.

Top five TV shows
For me, podcasts are a big part of my TV watching habit. And, although the production values are different, it’s still entertainment and I suspect several are among the most popular “shows,” TV and otherwise, on iTunes. Should podcasting and episodic TV be reckoned separately?
1. Glee, The Power of Madonna
2. Lost, The Final Season
3. iCarly, iSaved Your Life
4. Family Guy, Big Man on Hippocampus
5. South Park, Medicinal Fried Chicken

Top five paid iPhone apps
Although there are people out there still using their iPhones for work, games have really come to dominate. That said, before I got an iPad, I used an iPod touch for work and that’s pretty much stopped.
1. Angry Birds, Rovio Mobile
2. Doodle Jump, Lima Sky
3. Skee Ball, Freeverse
4. Bejeweled 2 + Blitz, PopCap
5. Fruit Ninja, Halfbrick Studios

Top five paid iPad apps
Games and productivity only? Given that much of the innovation on the iPad is happening in the news app space, I’m surprised there isn’t at least one — Pulse, Flipboard, SkyGrid, NPR — among the top apps, free or otherwise.
1. Pages, Apple
2. GoodReader, Yuri Selukof
3. Numbers, Apple
4. Angry Birds, Rovio Mobile
5. Keynote, Apple

Top five audiobooks
You really need to read Stieg Larson’s Millennium Triology, which pack intense emotional and dramatic wallop (and the movies are none too bad either).
1. Saving CeeCee Honeycut, Best Hoffman
2. The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Rebecca Skloot
3. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Stieg Larson
4. The Art of War, Sun Tzu
5. Parrot and Oliver in America, Peter Carey
