Redesigning iTunes: One guy’s take

It hardly bears saying anymore. It’s just something everyone knows — iTunes sucks. Personally, on the whole I rather like Apple’s jukebox + store + device manager + app repository. It’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but there really isn’t a worthy competitor let alone replacement for it anywhere on the horizon.

That said, what are your impressions of Jonny Garrill’s re-imagining of iTunes? I like the efficiency of his design, as well as the things he’s added — multiple genre tags, for example.

However, much of what ails iTunes resides under hood. Seriously, this app is glued together with AppleScript.

What would you change?

Multiple genre tags is now a must. I’ve taken to using the “grouping” spot to add additional genres, but it is certainly not the ideal solution. I’m almost certain these sites are frequented by Apple/Steve, and I sincerely hope they do a major update that does not involve social rigamarole.
