Hate the Mac App Store? Just trash it
To each his own. I’m liking Apple’s new Mac App Store and once the majority of developers move their stuff over, which I think is gonna happen fast, finding and updating software will be one-stop shopping convenient. Further, with my account faithfully managed by Apple — knock on laminate — there will be no need to keep local backups, leaving more space for movies, music and pictures.
But, what if you don’t like or, gawd forbid, actually hate the Mac App Store? Well the solution is Mac easy — just delete it. Drag it to the Trash and empty with prejudice.
Moreover, once it’s gone Mac OS X will recognize the change and replace “App Store” in the Apple Menu with “Get Mac OS X Software,” which is still a part of Apple.com and chock full as ever with all the latest and greatest third-party software.
So, whether you’ve already installed Mac OS X 10.6.6 or have been avoiding the update because you don’t want the Mac App Store, worry not — it’s just so not a problem (because you’ve gotta Mac)…
What’s your take?
