There are literally dozens of OS X maintenance utilities, though perhaps none are as widely used (or comprehensive) as Cocktail. Yes, you could perform all of these tasks manually or even automate them yourself in AppleScript, but why reinvent the wheel?

Is your Mac feeling a little sluggish? There are a dozen or so tasks, like repair permissions and clear caches, you can perform to bring back that loving feeling. However, to do good work, you’ve gotta keep your tools clean and sharp.

Thereupon, Maintain has released Cocktail 4.8.1, which is a maintenance update pure and simple:

• Fixed compatibility issues with the latest versions of supported web browsers (Camino 2.x, Chrome 9.x, Firefox 4.x, Flock 3.5.x, OmniWeb 5.x, Opera 11.x, Safari 5.x)
• Improvements on the “Delete localization files” procedure
• Updated Help files
• Updated Automator actions

Get your copy of Cocktail 4.8.1 here (2.3MB). Maintain also maintains versions of Cocktail for Leopard and Tiger.
