CrossOver 10.1: Now Rift compatible, improved WoW support

Huge strides have been made in recent years to create Mac-PC gaming parity. Nevertheless, there are still scores of titles that aren’t compatible with the Mac, leaving players to the choice of either buying a PC or just lumping it. Further, general use virtualization environments, such as Parallels and VMware, aren’t cheap and often lack the punch to play even older games.

That’s where CodeWeavers’ CrossOver Games comes in — an environment specifically tuned for playing games.

Thereupon, CrossOver Games 10.1 (change log) is now available and comes to market with some important new functionality baked in:

• Rift now installs and runs.
• Added the ability to install World of Warcraft via the download client. There are some issues with the launcher, but the game runs well when launched via WoW.exe.
• Some improvements have been made to the Star Trek Online launcher. The game still suffers from performance problems.
• Added CrossTie support for RAR files.
• Made several improvements to menu and association handling.
