Taco Bell beefing up wi-fi, tacos not so much

So, you’re tired of burgers, but there’s no free wi-fi at Taco Bell? Now, or sometime by 2015, you’ll be able blog, social network, YouTube and more outside the bun at the chain’s thousands of locations.

Taco Bell, purveyors of bun less, beef-ish like stuff, has announced a major menu addition — free wi-fi and, not that anyone cares, closed circuit TV all courtesy of Indoor Director. These services will be rolled out at the chain’s 5,600-plus locations by 2015.

“Our consumers come to us for great tasting tacos and burritos, and now we’re enriching their experience with the addition of indoorDIRECT’s Restaurant Entertainment Network,” said David Ovens, Chief Marketing Officer, Taco Bell. “As the value leader in quick-service restaurants, The Restaurant Entertainment Network will add even greater value to the Taco Bell experience and feature engaging content such as music, lifestyle, entertainment and sports, and also free Wi-Fi to keep our consumers connected with their friends.”

For those of us who spend a lot of time behind the wheel, Taco Bell’s wi-fi rollout means we won’t have to drive to a nearby McDonald’s, Tim Horton’s or other properly equipped fast food outlet after making a TexMex pick up. Maybe I can save a little gas while giving myself the same…
