Evernote 3: Lion full screen, favorites bar and more

Although social bookmarking services — think Digg, Delicious and FriendFeed — are in decline, likely the terminal kind, cloud + app alternatives are the flavor of the hour. My favorite, however, is Evernote and it’s just gotten a big, whole number boost that bring a host of Lion specific user interface and functional improvements.

Evernote 3.0.1 has arrived on the Mac App Store and this is the update Lion users have been waiting for.

“Like many Apple fans, we were excited about the release of the latest Mac operating system, OS X Lion,” said Alex Sinkov, Evernote. “Not only is it a major update with lots of new concepts and functionality, but it also represents an interesting move by Apple to bring its mobile and desktop operating systems closer together.”

Apple Online Store• Completely redesigned interface
• Favorites Bar to quickly filter and search through notes
• Drag notebooks, tags, notes to the Favorites Bar for quick access
• Hide and show the left panel
• Fullscreen mode
• Numerous bug fixes and improvements

That said, whereas the bug fixes apply to most users, the new user interface and functionality are Lion specific — if you want the new stuff, then OS X 10.7 is a requirement.

Evernote 3 is available on the Mac App Store (free).
