Kindle for Mac 1.7 adds collections, Shelfari support

Reading books on your Mac is still a poor third to mobile (iPad, Kindle, iPhone) and, quite frankly, an actual physical book. However, it is an option and one that I keep handy and there’s an update to help keep it fresh.

Kindle for Mac 1.7 (Amazon) is now available, though the “what’s new” bulletpoints are few and thin. Nevertheless, bringing this platform up to fighting weight is a good thing and Amazon provides an option that Apple’s iBooks doesn’t:

1 FREE Audiobook RISK-FREE from Audible• Support for collections allows you to take control of your Kindle library and organize your books with ease.
• Book Extras by Shelfari. Access character descriptions, important places, popular quotations, themes, and book-specific glossaries from Shelfari, the community-powered encyclopedia for book-lovers.

Kindle for Mac is also available on the App Store, though it’s not the most current version (1.5.2).
