Where to get the real Adobe Flash Player

There’s a lot of fear, uncertainty and doubt, call it FUD, going around about the Flashback Trojan. Don’t believe the hype and don’t be a victim — here’s how to get the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.

You need to get the latest and greatest version of Flash Player 10.3.x (click through for download), which offers better performance, better security and tighter integration with Mac OS X.

Here are the required specs:

• Mac OS X v10.4 or higher
• Intel Core Duo 1.33GHz or faster processor (No PPC)
• 256MB RAM
• 128MB graphics memory
• Safari 4.0 and above Mozilla Firefox 3.0 and above Google Chrome3 Opera 9.5 and above AOL Desktop for Mac 1.0 and above

When it comes to browsers, get the newest most up-to-date version your Mac’s specs will support. That said, to date, it appears the Flashback Trojan only affects Safari and doesn’t (yet) work with Chrome, Firefox or Opera.

People who download and install software from unreliable sources (instead of from the developer or the Mac App Store) and then complain when they have authorized the installation of a Trojan on their own computers, is like someone poking their eye with a stick and then blaming the stick.
