MacGourmet 3.2 adds improved web import

It’s the weekend and there will be cooking, maybe even a milkshake or fruit smoothie. That said, I’ve never owned one of those little metal boxes stuffed with 3 x 5 cards and clippings, MacGourmet has been scratching this itch for years.
Mariner Software, one of the more prolific true independents, has released MacGourmet Deluxe 3.2, a free update for registered users and includes the following changes:
• [Web Site Import] New “Import Recipe from Web Page” command that lets you import recipes from within MacGourmet without using Services
• Redesigned import assistant with background importing for better processing.
• [Find and Search] Create a new list from the results displayed in a Find list (Edit > New > List from Find).
Click once, season to taste

That first bullet point, import from webpage, works well and represents a big step forward versus the old Services Menu method, which was always problematic. Essentially, MacGourmet now has a sandboxed browser instance with a search bar — find the recipe you want and click import, it worked well on the pages I tested.
A time limited MacGourment 3.2 demo can be downloaded here. A full license sells for $49.99 on the Mac App Store. Mariner’s companion MacGourmet touch for iPad ($4.99) is also available.
