Growl 1.3.1 now runs in background

The current release is OS X Lion only (no PPC) and the development team behind the project is now strongly hinting they want us to pay for it. Well, that’s all good with me as Lion’s been loaded on my Macs since March (or so) and $2 for Growl isn’t much of a decision.

Although the version history hasn’t been updated recently, there is nonetheless a fresh update. Growl 1.3.1 comes to market with the following changes:

iPod Store from MacMall.com• Growl can now run in the background and in other ways.
• The Rollup window can be made to show up on demand or can be disabled, as well
• Changing settings now show up without restarting Growl
• As well as “much more”

Yes, you can still download Growl directly from the Growl Team website, but it’s also available from the Mac App Store ($1.99), which makes it super easy to support this fantabulously skinnable, endlessly tweakable, AppleScript-olicious OS X notification ecosystem.
