Put aside that old school mouse and tap not your trackpad — Quicksilver is back (queue the ACDC). Recent version 6 betas have been winnowing out the problems this latest release trims the bug list even further.

In fresh blogpost, the Quicksilver team details substantial changes in v63 that flesh out features, such as Triggers, and quash bugs:

Holiday Gift Guide 2011 at MacMall.com • FIX: Fixed a serious bug in ß62 that caused custom catalogs to be erased
• FIX: Fixed a bug in Quicksilver’s internal updating mechanism
• FIX: Ensured the new ‘Clear caches’ option in the crash dialogue only clears the catalog cache
• FIX: Fixed a bug that could cause Quicksilver to launch twice when honouring the dock icon preferences

QuickSilver includes modules for Address Book, Mail, Firefox, Growl, iChat, iTunes, KeyChain, Safari and Terminal as part of its default install. Dozens of additional plugins for Airport, Clipboard, 1Password, MS Office, etc. are also available.

Quicksilver 63 is available for Lion and Snow Leopard here. The same download page offers versions for Tiger/Leopard and Panther.

    This is great news!

Quicksilver is always one of the first programs I ever install onto a new machine, and although Spotlight has come on in leaps and bounds, for starting an obscure application, nothing can beat Quicksilver in terms of speed and accuracy.
