Fresh desktop pictures for your Mac

5 December 2011 1,493 views One Comment

Every month, About This Particular Macintosh delivers an eclectic mix of Mac flavored reviews, analysis, opinion and, well, stuff. Therein, a regular feature is reader submitted desktop pictures (a.k.a. wallpapers), which might sound like a Sunday night potluck but actually skews closer to a Four Seasons buffet.

The Desktop Picture section of the December issue features Disney photos. Previous features covered The Netherlands; Easter Island; New York City; Cherokee and Whittier, North Carolina; North Texas; Broomfield, Colorado; Arizona; Star Wars Celebration V, Disney and an archive stretching back years.

Pop quiz: In addition to Macworld, name another Mac magazine that’s been published for more than 15 years? Even if you did manage to come up with a name, chances are it wasn’t About This Particular Magazine, an ezine that has outlived Netscape Navigator and CyberDog while surviving multiple economic downturns through least three presidents. It’s free, can be viewed online or downloaded for offline consumption — check it out.

Yeah, there’s a lot of goodness in there, literally hundreds of cropped + sized images, and the above list is a tiny sample of what’s available — the archive I viewed goes back to 1999.

So, in addition to a mountain of quality editorial, About This Particular Macintosh also has tons a free desktop pictures. Really, really good stuff.
