On the day a new tablet with Retina display was introduced to the world and, perhaps more importantly for schools, the iPad 2’s price was slashed to $399, Apple also released iBooks Author 1.1. As you would expect, it brings tweaks to take advantage of that crispy clear new display:

• Enhanced to create books that take advantage of the Retina display on the new iPad
• Includes performance and stability improvements

Of course, Apple has also released an update of their mobile ebook reading app. iBooks 2.1 (free) is available and brings a number of new features, including improved search, print vs digital page number fidelity and swipe to highlight changes.
