ClamXav 2.2.5: Tweaks Sentry, fixes auto-update issue

I have been beating this drum for years, though it’s only recently become fashionable to recommend every Mac user install and use antivirus software. But that’s just one of the free and easy steps you should take to secure your Mac.

ClamXav 2.2.5 (version history) is out and comes to market with no new functionality but a couple fixes baked in:

• Removes the updated/already-up-to-date messages in Sentry on automatic updates
• Correctly only auto-updates on launch and not when computer wakes
• If these features are not important to you, you should skip this update
• OS X 10.4 users should NOT download this update

Have a second look at the third bullet point — you should skip this update if…. Not something you see every day.

ClamXav 2.2.5 is free and available direct from developer Mark Allen or via the Mac App Store.
