Eau de MacBook Pro, for Apple lovers only
It is a really awesome to be alive right now — three artists from Oz teamed with a consultant and fragrance lab to bottle the scent of a freshly unboxed MacBook Pro. No you can’t buy it, at least not yet, but if you’re in Melbourne and can get to the West Space Museum, then you can enjoy that lovely smell for yourself.
To replicate the aroma, a brand new unopened MacBook Pro was delivered to the Air-Aroma fragrance lab in France. Chemists then formulated the scent which will be delivered via an Air Aroma Aroslim diffuser as part of a Melbourne art exhibit:
A distinctive scent can be observed when unwrapping a newly purchased Apple product from its packaging. Apple fans will certainly recognize this smell. The scent created for Greatest Hits encompasses the smell of the plastic wrap covering the box, printed ink on the cardboard, the smell of paper and plastic components within the box and of course the aluminum laptop which has come straight from the factory where it was assembled in China.
Just thinking about the moment of unboxing, scent and all, gives me a little shiver. The three Australian artists and Air-Aroma should really think about bringing Eau de MacBook Pro to market…
