Keyboard shortcut for fine grain volume, brightness control

This is a tip that bears repeating every so often. Using just the volume control keys on your Mac’s keyboard you get 16 audio output levels, 17 if you count zero. Naturally, the level you would really like is somewhere, for example, between three and four, but there’s no way to get there, right?

Here’s how. Press and hold the Option + Shift keys while tapping the volume up or down keys and you get fine grained control — four additional increments per level and 64 is way more than 16 or 11 for that matter.

In fact, the same trick works with display brightness and keyboard backlight brightness. Just hold the Option + Shift keys while tapping the bright up and down keys.

Now, you can get your Mac’s volume and brightness levels to that just right, Goldie Locks level…
